Overview

Lang’s MSc in Tourism and Hospitality offers two flexible options designed to align with students’ career goals and academic interests. The Thesis option is well suited to students who are passionate about research and considering a PhD or a research-intensive career. It provides the opportunity to explore an area of interest in depth, supported by strong methodological training and faculty mentorship. Students develop a critical understanding of how research and knowledge are used to examine the complexities of the tourism and hospitality industry. Upon graduation, they gain advanced analytical and research skills applicable to doctoral studies and impactful roles in academic and industry settings. The Major Research Project (MRP) option is ideal for those seeking to develop practical research skills that can be applied directly to their careers. Completed in one year, the MRP involves a focused applied research project that connects academic knowledge with real-world challenges in the tourism and hospitality industry. Designed for professionals seeking career advancement and recent graduates looking to deepen their expertise, the program strengthens students’ ability to make evidence-based decisions, lead with insight, and contribute meaningfully to their organizations and communities. Regardless of the pathway selected, the MSc in Tourism and Hospitality prepares graduates to become thoughtful, informed, and forward-thinking professionals.
