Overview

The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science (Information Security and Cryptography) at Ascentia Malta is a graduate-level programme designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and research-led expertise in the fields of information security and cryptography. The programme aims to equip students with the theoretical understanding and practical skills required to address complex security challenges in modern information systems. It integrates core concepts of security with real-world applications, enabling students to develop a deep understanding of how to protect systems, data, and networks in an increasingly digital environment. The overall programme curriculum covers a broad range of subjects, including cryptography, network security, web security, computer forensics, intrusion detection and prevention, and secure coding practices. Students develop the ability to design and implement secure systems using various programming languages, tools, and software development methodologies. The programme also enables students to understand and apply relevant security standards and regulatory frameworks, particularly in areas related to data privacy and compliance. Practical components such as security analysis, threat modelling, and penetration testing provide students with hands-on experience in evaluating and improving system security. These opportunities enhance students’ analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills, preparing them to effectively address real-world cybersecurity challenges. The programme is designed to combine theoretical foundations with practical and research-oriented applications, preparing students for advanced roles in the field of information security and cryptography.
