Overview

The Department of Art and Design offers to degree programs in Studio Art. The Bachelor of Arts is ideal for those students who have an interest in Studio Art and an interest outside the Department of Art + Design. Pairing Studio Art with other disciplines like Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Journalism, or Psychology results in some exciting new ideas and perspectives. The BA Art: Studio Art degree allows students to focus on 2 art disciplines like photography and ceramics, for example. There is room in this curriculum for a minor outside the department. So if a student combined this degree with a Psychology minor, they could go to graduate school for art therapy, or combine this degree with a Business minor to go into arts administration. APSU houses the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts which brings great speakers and exhibiting artists that students are able to meet and assist with installing exhibitions. Students have opportunities to study abroad in Italy, or complete up to two internships at regional museums and galleries. As a 4-year university, APSU offer coursework in a variety of subject areas that allow for major/minor pairings that are not possible at art institutions. Students will have an opportunity to have a semi-private studio space in The Living Gallery of the new Art + Design Building.

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
