Overview

The Extended Accelerator Program is a three-semester program for students seeking an immersive English-learning experience. The program gives students a firsthand practical and cultural understanding of the Auburn University campus and the Auburn, Alabama, area through its contextual curriculum. Upon completion of the program, students progress into year two of their undergraduate education with a full year’s worth of academic credits. The major in agricultural science offers a broad base of knowledge and expertise across a variety of agricultural disciplines. The cross-disciplinary program was developed in response to a growing and more diverse agricultural industry as well as the increased need among related industries for a more broadly skilled workforce. The agricultural science major is designed to prepare students for a career within agricultural companies, producer groups or extension agencies. It is also an excellent foundation for a teaching career in agriscience education or for graduate studies in a variety of agricultural fields. Coursework in the agricultural science major will include studies in crop and soil science, animal sciences, horticulture, agribusiness, fisheries and aquaculture, agricultural technology and more.

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
