Overview

Program Description The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. Applicants who obtain Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (5.0 in all subskills including listening), will study the 1-Semester Pathway programme. Applicants who do not meet the 1-Semester Pathway programme IELTS requirements will be placed in the 2-Semester Pathway English language preparation course, so long as they have an overall IELTS score of 4.5 (4.5 in all subskills). Once the applicant completes the course, they may start the international year one. This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the International Year One programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program. International Year One in Engineering and Science will let you explore and begin to understand the power of science and engineering in the real world by studying relevant courses such as Programming and Systems Control, Mathematics for Computing and Engineering and Data Analysis and Modelling. While you begin to learn the technical and applied aspects of science and engineering you also are provided with a critical outlook and approach employers want in your chosen field. From renewable energies, autonomous cars, robotics and mobile communication to advances in medicine, electrical and electronic engineering underpins all facets of our daily lives. Our world class research in sensors, flexible electronics, medical imaging, 5G communications and space systems informs our degrees such as this Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to give you the best start in your career. You’ll study in our £12-million Future Technologies Labs, which provides a new space for building robots, programming embedded systems and digital signal processors, as well as state-of-the-art computer design and modelling suites. You will use our industry sponsored electronics laboratories, electrical drive systems, and control engineering laboratories and could be part of one of the Formula Student teams. As you progress, you’ll focus on electrical or electronic engineering. You’ll get specialist training in applications ranging from semiconductor devices to electric motors for future green transport.
