Overview

The Master of Nursing (Pre-registration) is designed for graduates from non-nursing disciplines who wish to enter the nursing profession. The programme combines nursing theory, clinical skills development, evidence-based practice, and supervised professional placements to prepare students to provide safe, person-centred care in diverse healthcare environments. Areas of study may include anatomy and physiology, health assessment, clinical nursing practice, pharmacology and medication safety, acute and chronic care, mental health, community health, Indigenous health, research, healthcare leadership, and professional and ethical practice. Simulation activities and clinical placements allow students to apply theoretical knowledge while developing communication, critical-thinking, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills. Graduates may be eligible to apply for registration as a nurse in Australia, subject to the programme’s accreditation and meeting all requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Clinical placements may require immunisation evidence, police and working-with-children checks, first-aid certification, and other compliance documents. Exact modules, placement arrangements, accreditation status, and registration outcomes should be confirmed with the university.
