Overview

The Advertising – Creative and Digital Strategy graduate certificate program at Centennial College is designed to meet the growing demand for creative professionals in the digital advertising and marketing industry. As the digital sector continues to expand rapidly, the program focuses on preparing students to develop innovative and impactful advertising solutions. Delivered at the Story Arts Centre in Toronto, it combines the college’s expertise in digital media with its strengths in business and marketing. The program emphasizes the creation of engaging digital experiences grounded in strong creative strategy. Students are immersed in the digital landscape and learn how to conceptualize and execute breakthrough advertising campaigns. Throughout the program, they develop skills in creative strategy, copywriting, concept development, art direction, collaboration, presentation, and entrepreneurship. In addition, they gain exposure to emerging technologies and platforms to stay current with industry trends. The curriculum is structured around five key areas: creative strategy to align advertising with business objectives, digital storytelling to craft compelling narratives, brand engagement to build meaningful consumer connections, entrepreneurship to encourage innovation and business thinking, and emerging platforms to keep pace with technological advancements in the industry. A significant component of the program is the second-semester field placement, where students participate in team-based assignments within a real-world professional environment. This hands-on experience allows them to apply their knowledge and refine their skills in a collaborative setting. By the end of the program, students are expected to understand the digital creative process from a creative director’s perspective and be able to develop effective digital strategies. They will build a strong professional portfolio, enhance their presentation and communication skills, and gain the ability to analyze and solve business and marketing challenges using innovative digital approaches. The combination of classroom learning and field placement ensures graduates are well prepared for careers in the digital advertising industry.
