Overview

Program Description The English language program is designed to prepare students to enter post-secondary studies at Confederation College. The program focuses on reading, writing, listening and speaking in an academic setting. It uses interactive teaching methods to maximize student success. Progress in each level is determined through assignments, mid-term and final tests, attendance, lab work and participation. The 14-week English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program is designed for students who possess a high-intermediate level of English. A passing grade in the EAP program meets Confederation’s English proficiency requirements for full-time study. Features of the EAP course include: • Development of learning strategies, predictive and note taking skills • Participation in authentic academic lectures • Development of summarizing and persuasive essay writing skills • Ability to lead discussion groups and deliver oral presentations • Earning two college credits upon successful completion of EAP
