HNC Computer is a stepping stone towards a career in a specialist computing science subject. During this course, students will learn a diverse range of essential computing industry skills, from troubleshooting computer problems to software development. This course is an ideal choice for those who are not yet sure where their strengths lie or what area of computing they wish to specialise in. Students will discover dynamic skills as they develop their knowledge of IT and work towards achieving their career ambitions. This unique course allows them to explore different disciplines in the computer science industry before deciding on a specialist subject like Software Development in the second year of HND at Edinburgh College or another computing subject at university. This is a hands-on and practical course that will enhance students' employability skills. Each subject area covered is tailored towards jobs available in the industry, ensuring that students receive the best education to progress towards a specialist HND or degree. All compatible Edinburgh College HND courses offer third-year entry to Edinburgh Napier University or Heriot-Watt University. Alternatively, students can apply to a university upon completion of their HNC and gain entry to the first or second year of a university course.
