Overview

Dominican's Sociology program teaches students how social forces influence societies from the individual to global level. The program's versatility ensures graduates are successful working in government, non-profit and business sectors. Students in the sociology program will work toward the following outcomes through learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. Identify and evaluate different social theories and their social-historical context to understand and analyze social structures and dynamics. Critically analyze sociological questions employing social science research methods and identifying implications for research and policy. Examine how culture and social structure operate and assess how the intersectionality of race/ethnicity, gender, class, or other bases of inequality impact society. This degree will prepare students for a wide range of transformative careers including social work, education, and work in local, state, or federal government, business and non-profit sectors.
