Overview

The FIU Global First Year Program combines credit-bearing courses from the first year of a student’s degree with additional support services, tailored instruction based on academic and language proficiency, and cultural experiences to ensure future success. The program also includes the Career Accelerator program, providing international students with professional development, career guidance, skills-based training, exclusive internship opportunities, workshops, real-world experiences, and cross-cultural group work. In the field of electrical engineering, expertise is essential for designing distribution systems related to new technologies. As advancements in technology continue to emerge, electrical engineers play a crucial role in translating innovative designs into tangible realities. A degree in electrical engineering equips students with the necessary skills to take on key roles in developing solar arrays, semiconductors, and communication technologies. Electrical engineers are at the forefront of advancing cleaner energy sources, upgrading power grids, and automating production processes. Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering will gain the ability to design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, design systems to meet specific needs within various constraints, work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and communicate proficiently. They will also develop skills in applying probability and statistics to engineering programs.
