Overview

The FIU Global First Year Program combines credit-bearing courses from the first year of a student’s degree with additional support services, instruction tailored to their academic and language level, and cultural experiences, all aimed at ensuring their future success. The Global First Year experience not only focuses on academic, language, and cultural growth but also offers the Career Accelerator program, providing valuable professional skills to prepare students for a successful career. The Career Accelerator, specifically designed for international students, includes four semesters of professional development and career guidance, skills-based training, exclusive internship opportunities, unique workshops, real-world experiences, and cross-cultural group work. The Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure, and Sustainability at Florida International University is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education, recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the accrediting agency for construction-related degree programs. The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Construction Management is a four-year program tailored for students interested in pursuing professional careers in construction management, operations, and related fields within the construction industry. Upper-level coursework covers topics such as building codes, structural design, scheduling, cost estimating, construction safety, and management, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as construction managers, supervisors, project managers, project schedulers, cost estimators, quality controllers, or even owners of their own construction firms. Opportunities for career advancement in various sectors of the construction industry, including land development, home building, public building, industrialized building systems, commercial and industrial construction, marine and highway heavy construction, underwater and space age facilities, material and equipment sales and installations, as well as construction product research, development, and sales, are available to graduates of the program.
