Overview

JCU’s Master of Engineering Management is ideal for professional engineers and other technical professionals seeking a higher qualification that will develop their project management and business management skills. Over the course of this two-year degree, students will complete subjects on project management, engineering management, sustainable economics, and strategic resource and operations management. Students will also participate in work-integrated learning through an industry placement, preparing them with skills for your career. Developing and managing sustainable projects is critical to the successful completion and continued operation of engineering ventures. The learnings embedded in this course incorporate authentic and practical knowledge that will support students to develop a broad range of management skills that are in demand across engineering and related industries. Students will transfer their knowledge and skills to the workplace and network with prospective employers and peers. The networking available within their placements could lead to further opportunities post-graduation. In addition to employment opportunities, having increased industry connections can valuably contribute to students' role in project management. The Master of Engineering Management is designed in consultation with industry experts to ensure familiarity with professional practice both in Australia and overseas. Students will be equipped to manage projects at new scales and levels of complexity, while satisfying the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) professional standards. This degree is also aligned with a number of Australian and international standards, including the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education, the Associate to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the Australian Qualifications Framework. As managers of projects, technology, infrastructure and people, Engineering Managers need to be aware of and ready to actively oversee complex projects for social, environmental and cultural sustainability. This Engineering Management degree will equip students with the skills to meet such a standard as well as the practical experience required to deliver successful projects on time, on budget and in line with community and professional expectations. The Master of Engineering Management’s combination of technical and practical knowledge will enable students to apply management tools and management methods to complex projects as well as develop confidence for leadership in both interpersonal and technical settings
