Overview

The International Stage One is equivalent to the first year of a four-year Scottish undergraduate degree. This program is designed to help students develop their academic knowledge and skills within their subject area. Students will also focus on improving their English academic literacy in preparation for continuing onto their chosen University of Dundee undergraduate degree. Studied across three terms, students will continue straight onto Year two of the degree course at the University once they have successfully completed the International Stage One. Economics with Spanish option offers even greater flexibility for those with a strong interest in the arts and social science subjects. In addition to compulsory modules, students can choose from a broad range of subjects including History, English, Geography, Politics, or Psychology. Students will also study one or two Spanish modules each year, either as a beginner or at an intensive level for those who have previously studied the language at Higher/A-Level. Economists analyze how societies strive to make the best use of their limited resources, providing guidance to governments, individuals, and companies on how to improve decision-making and outcomes. While traditional economists focus on investment, inflation, interest rates, and production, the field of economics has expanded to include topics such as climate change, inequality, and healthcare improvement.
