Overview

Program Description Build a future by studying in the UK, with a pathway course at Kaplan International College (KIC) London. Situated in the world’s top academic city (QS Best Student Cities 2019), the College will prepare students for a university degree, and for a successful career. Study at one of the most respected international colleges in London, and progress to one of 8 universities, including the University of Bristol. The University of Bristol is a highly ranked Russell Group university with a fantastic reputation. Students will join a global community of students from more than 150 countries, and enjoy life in one of the UK’s most exciting cities. This course focuses on policy and the rights of children and young people from birth to 19 years, exploring contemporary debates within a global context. The research-based teaching includes the expertise of lecturers from related disciplines, including education, psychology, sociology, social work and law. Years one and two are identical to the three-year BSc Childhood Studies. In the first year students will develop a solid understanding of the social, psychological and historical constructions of childhood. In subsequent years students can choose optional units from a wide range of subjects, allowing students to pursue different routes through the degree to develop the career path that is right for them. In year three students will be able to study overseas at one of our partner institutions before returning to Bristol to complete a final year. The interdisciplinary nature of this course makes it ideal for students from a range of different backgrounds who want to develop a holistic understanding of childhood. Graduates go on to careers in areas as diverse as education, children’s therapy, social work, law and social justice, children’s charities, government and the civil service.
