Overview

The Master of Professional Studies in Informatics equips students to succeed in the fast-growing and dynamic field of informatics. In today’s technology-driven information economy, informatics—the study of how humans interact with information—has applications across a variety of industries, including healthcare, consulting, education, finance, manufacturing, and communications. Informatics professionals apply technical expertise to a wide range of challenges, from designing decision support systems and developing 3D visualizations to creating mobile applications and managing information and communication technologies, with attention to usability, reliability, privacy, safety, and security. The program prepares IT professionals for management roles by connecting computing skills and applications to real-world issues in information strategy, data governance, ethics, and business intelligence. The program offers both online and on-campus formats, providing flexibility for working professionals and international students seeking to advance in information technology and management. It attracts students from diverse educational backgrounds and emphasizes experiential learning, giving participants the opportunity to work on real-world business projects. As a STEM-designated graduate degree, it also allows international students to qualify for an extended period of Optional Practical Training (OPT).
