Overview

Students can master the art of storytelling in this dynamic and close-knit graduate program. Work in fiction, documentary, web based and/or VR/AR/XR formats. The Film and Television Master’s program (FTMA) at Sacred Heart University is devoted to cinematic storytelling across all platforms. Students find their artistic vision in a collaborative environment in which they live and breathe filmmaking. This program fosters the next generation of storytellers through dynamic courses that guide students as they work collaboratively to create independent projects, supplemented by frequent masterclasses and workshops. Focusing on story and hands-on production, students learn the craft and techniques that empower them to stand out in today’s media market. Dual Degree Program Students apply to the dual degree program as incoming freshmen and are admitted directly into the FTMA graduate program at the same time as their admission as undergraduate students. Dual degree students are guaranteed a place in the Masters in Film & Television Production (FTMA/FTMFA) program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into enrollment in the graduate program.

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.

About the Institution

SHU is the first lay-led Catholic university in the United States and the second-largest Catholic university in New England. Sacred Heart University was founded on a mission to bring social justice to a broken world, and since their inception, they have been – continually and increasingly – committed to the realization of that goal – both within themselves and the greater community.
