Overview

The most successful companies and the most successful leaders are the ones that know how to manage the most valuable asset that a company has: its people, their skills and their creativity. This requires managers and leaders to not only have knowledge of functional skills but more importantly, how to manage interdisciplinary teams and how to create a corporate culture of innovation. The master of business administration is still the most widely recognized graduate degree for managerial positions and above. While many specialized master's degrees can help applicants with their first job, an MBA is key for a career as a leader. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Sacred Heart University is one of fewer than five percent of elite business schools worldwide accredited by AACSB International. Students will have access to world class facilities including the IDEA Lab, AI Lab and Finance Lab and will learn from professors with years of corporate experience. The MBA program is focused on the development of key competencies: Personal and professional interest and the belief that every person deserves space and dignity. Persuasive communication that is articulate, candid, to the point, and leads to action. Exceptional excellence and continuous improvement through attention to detail, rigorous analysis, and decision-making. Accountability for decisions and actions of team and self, putting team goals ahead of individual goals, with the focus on contribution to the organization.

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.

About the Institution

Founded in 1963, Sacred Heart University is a Catholic, private, coeducational, residential four-year liberal arts institution granting bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees. SHU is the first lay-led Catholic university in the United States and the second-largest Catholic university in New England. Sacred Heart University was founded on a mission to bring social justice to a broken world, and since their inception, they have been – continually and increasingly – committed to the realization of that goal – both within themselves and the greater community.
