Overview

Program Description Electrical and computer engineering involves researching, developing and testing electronic and computer components. Engineers study computing processes, circuit boards, memory devices, networks and routers while examining new frontiers in computer hardware. The electrical and computer engineering field is marked by its advancements in evolving areas of technology such as optics, electric power systems and microelectronics. Students complete a core electrical engineering curriculum with an emphasis on computer science while allowing room for electives in University of Tulsa's (TU) reputable humanities-based programs. A strong background in mathematics and physics is required along with interests in bioengineering, electromagnetic fields and circuit systems. The Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering focuses on curriculum and coursework more than research and can be completed in less time than the M.S.E. option.

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.

About the Institution

The University of Tulsa (TU) traces its roots to the Presbyterian School for Indian Girls, a small boarding school in Muskogee, Indian Territory, which was founded in 1882. The first classes in the new college were held on Sept. 12, 1894. Today, TU operates as an independent, nondenominational university. A top-rated research institution, TU welcomes students from many different faiths...
