Overview

Program Description The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a two-semester program designed specifically for students who are ready to succeed in immersive English-speaking classrooms, but who also want the benefit of English-language and student support to help them thrive. The program curriculum offers a balance of university-wide and AAP-exclusive courses, with English-language course supplements that equip students with the practical, subject-specific vocabulary and skills they need to excel in their coursework. As an Academic Accelerator student at UDayton Global you'll receive: The right amount of support when you need it. A seat in credit-bearing courses, so you can earn a full freshman year’s worth of credits while taking courses tailored to your needs as an international student. This will help you achieve your academic and career goals. English-language instruction designed around your social and academic needs. Integrated and cohorted courses, so you’ll be in some classes with U.S. students and others with your designated UDayton Global cohort. Students in the Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology Program discover who they are, affirm their values, aspire to be better, and seek solutions. Our program allows students to play "what if?" in the face of "who cares?" They engage in collaborative, creative inquiry that reminds them what it is to be human, to be flawed, to be transformed. The theatre is the site of embodied democracy, where entertainment entertains emergent ideas - because we all have stories to tell. This program provides four theoretical and practical concentrations: Acting Applied Theatre Dance Performance Technology All of these concentrations are informed by a Marianist tradition of community engagement and social justice. With co-curricular, interdisciplinary, and experiential learning at the heart of the curriculum, performers and technicians learn by doing, serving and creating. They develop their character, find their light and lead.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.

About the Institution

Founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary (the Marianists), a group of visionary leaders who knew that consistent change was necessary for constant growth, the University has grown into a top-tier Catholic university. At the University of Dayton, we learn by doing, because doing transforms education. Whether it's breaking ground on campus to do groundbreaking work with GE Aviation, staying ahead of the economic curve by opening an institute in China or increasing our global foothold by reducing our local footprint, we're rolling up our sleeves and taking action to create a better tomorrow.
