Overview

Program Description The Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) is a three-semester program for students seeking an immersive English-learning experience. The program gives students firsthand practical and cultural understanding of the UDayton campus and Dayton area through its contextual curriculum. Upon completion of the program, students progress into the second year of their undergraduate education with a full year’s worth of academic credits. As an Extended Accelerator student at UDayton Global you'll receive: An immersive educational experience with a contextual curriculum bridging language, culture and academics. Live, Learn, Grow is a unique course designed for international students that will deepen your working knowledge of life in the United States and give you a comprehensive understanding of the local community and region. Bolster your academic achievement with English-language instruction, tutoring, academic advising and student support. Benefit from personalized English-language instruction that’s fully contextual—for example, lab-specific English-language instruction alongside your lab-inclusive science course. As a humanistic discipline, the fine arts emphasize self-discovery and realization of individual creative potential as invaluable assets in both career and personal development. The pursuit of a fine arts career is a commitment to creating images through which artists may identify and critique society. Thus the artist contributes to the preservation and advancement of culture. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is an intensive professional program of study specifically designed to prepare you to enter the field of fine arts and/or continue your studies in graduate school. The BFA allows you to collaborate with faculty on independent special interest problems. Fine Arts at the University of Dayton offer the creative individual a wide variety of artistic experiences designed for personal enrichment and high degree of originality. A faculty of highly qualified artists offers instruction in such areas as painting, drawing, ceramics, illustration, sculpture, and printmaking. Fine art studio classes provide a broad base of experience for the individual seeking to explore the diverse possibilities of artistic expression and thought. The department offers a broad selection of courses that provide beginner as well as the committed artist with a range of experiences that are intended to enhance and expand a student’s creative abilities. Entrance portfolios are not required for acceptance into the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, but students transferring art and/or design credits from other academic institutions are required to submit a portfolio consisting of their work from each course for which they seek credit. The University of Dayton is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.
