Overview

Program Description The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a two-semester program designed specifically for students who are ready to succeed in immersive English-speaking classrooms, but who also want the benefit of English-language and student support to help them thrive. The program curriculum offers a balance of university-wide and AAP-exclusive courses, with English-language course supplements that equip students with the practical, subject-specific vocabulary and skills they need to excel in their coursework. As an Academic Accelerator student at UDayton Global you'll receive: The right amount of support when you need it. A seat in credit-bearing courses, so you can earn a full freshman year’s worth of credits while taking courses tailored to your needs as an international student. This will help you achieve your academic and career goals. English-language instruction designed around your social and academic needs. Integrated and cohorted courses, so you’ll be in some classes with U.S. students and others with your designated UDayton Global cohort. As a humanistic discipline, the fine arts emphasize self-discovery and realization of individual creative potential as invaluable assets in both career and personal development. The pursuit of a fine arts career is a commitment to creating images through which artists may identify and critique society. Thus the artist contributes to the preservation and advancement of culture. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is an intensive professional program of study specifically designed to prepare you to enter the field of fine arts and/or continue your studies in graduate school. The BFA allows you to collaborate with faculty on independent special interest problems. Fine Arts at the University of Dayton offer the creative individual a wide variety of artistic experiences designed for personal enrichment and high degree of originality. A faculty of highly qualified artists offers instruction in such areas as painting, drawing, ceramics, illustration, sculpture, and printmaking. Fine art studio classes provide a broad base of experience for the individual seeking to explore the diverse possibilities of artistic expression and thought. The department offers a broad selection of courses that provide beginner as well as the committed artist with a range of experiences that are intended to enhance and expand a student’s creative abilities. Entrance portfolios are not required for acceptance into the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, but students transferring art and/or design credits from other academic institutions are required to submit a portfolio consisting of their work from each course for which they seek credit. The University of Dayton is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.

About the Institution

Founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary (the Marianists), a group of visionary leaders who knew that consistent change was necessary for constant growth, the University has grown into a top-tier Catholic university. At the University of Dayton, we learn by doing, because doing transforms education. Whether it's breaking ground on campus to do groundbreaking work with GE Aviation, staying ahead of the economic curve by opening an institute in China or increasing our global foothold by reducing our local footprint, we're rolling up our sleeves and taking action to create a better tomorrow.
