Overview

Program Description The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a two-semester program designed specifically for students who are ready to succeed in immersive English-speaking classrooms, but who also want the benefit of English-language and student support to help them thrive. The program curriculum offers a balance of university-wide and AAP-exclusive courses, with English-language course supplements that equip students with the practical, subject-specific vocabulary and skills they need to excel in their coursework. As an Academic Accelerator student at UDayton Global you'll receive: The right amount of support when you need it. A seat in credit-bearing courses, so you can earn a full freshman year’s worth of credits while taking courses tailored to your needs as an international student. This will help you achieve your academic and career goals. English-language instruction designed around your social and academic needs. Integrated and cohorted courses, so you’ll be in some classes with U.S. students and others with your designated UDayton Global cohort. Our state-of-the-art program combines coursework in management and operations planning with hands-on experience through capstone consulting projects. You will take courses from various fields of study in addition to the core set of six operations and supply management courses. Electives allow you to tailor your studies based on your interests, and you may choose concentrations in business process management, e-commerce, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, operations accounting, quality management and supply chain management. You'll gain hands-on experience through a capstone operations consulting field project. As part of the project, you’ll deal with operations and supply problems of a real manufacturing or service firm in the Dayton, Cincinnati or Columbus area. Plenty of professional support is available, as the operations management program is supported by a strong and dedicated advisory council composed of executives from leading area organizations such as American Trim, Dayton Power & Light, Deloitte Consulting, Emerson Technologies, General Electric, Johnson Electric, Meijer, Premier Health, PriceWaterhouseCooper, Standard Register and USAF Sourcing. The advisory council provides guidance to the faculty in areas of curriculum, capstone project support, internship experiences and job placement upon graduation. The School of Business Administration's undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical.

About the Institution

Founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary (the Marianists), a group of visionary leaders who knew that consistent change was necessary for constant growth, the University has grown into a top-tier Catholic university. At the University of Dayton, we learn by doing, because doing transforms education. Whether it's breaking ground on campus to do groundbreaking work with GE Aviation, staying ahead of the economic curve by opening an institute in China or increasing our global foothold by reducing our local footprint, we're rolling up our sleeves and taking action to create a better tomorrow.
