Overview

The NCSC-certified cyber security degree equips students with the in-demand skills required to combat cyber threats, protect the digital world and contribute to the forefront of the cyber security industry. Graduates gain hands-on experience in cyber security operations, AI-driven threat detection and security testing through integrated, project-based learning. The programme also helps students develop essential professional skills and build a comprehensive portfolio to demonstrate their abilities to prospective employers. Aligned with the Cyber Security Body of Knowledge (CyBOK) and NCSC standards, the programme provides practical knowledge across network security, AI-enabled threat detection and vulnerability assessment. Students gain experience using industry-standard monitoring, detection and forensic analysis tools, while developing their problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to analyse complex cyber threats and evaluate security solutions. Students also develop practical offensive and defensive security expertise through red team and blue team activities, including incident response, threat hunting and system hardening. The programme covers the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities associated with cyber security, while strengthening teamwork and communication skills so that students can explain security issues to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Through independent learning and project management activities, students learn to keep pace with emerging threats and technologies, plan and deliver successful security projects, and graduate with the confidence and practical experience to pursue careers in cyber security and technology.
