Overview

Program Description More than ever, Wilfrid Laurier University needs to connect with the past to understand its present and future. The history program at the Brantford campus introduces students to the people, events, and ideas that have shaped the university's reality. The current challenges humanity faces are rooted in historical events. History students develop strong writing, research, and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to understand events in their historical and cultural contexts. Laurier’s History program offers multiple opportunities to enhance historic knowledge and skills through a rigorous curriculum, including lectures, seminar discussions, and hands-on training to become a historian.

But we’ve also been dedicated to the philosophy that our students’ success is measured through more than grades – it’s based on the quality of the lives they lead, and those they inspire. Laurier’s two campuses are in Waterloo and Brantford, but we also have a Faculty of Social Work in nearby Kitchener and a weekend MBA program in Toronto. In all, we have 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Kitchener-Waterloo, with a population of about 350,000, is small enough to be safe and easy to navigate but large enough to o...
