About Webster University

Webster University, a worldwide institution, ensures high-quality learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and individual excellence.

In 1915, the Sisters of Loretto had a bold vision — to establish a university that would admit and educate only women. Opening with five students, the institution’s first graduating class totaled just two women. Today Webster’s main campus looks quite different than it did more than a century ago — and even different from when it was renamed Webster University in 1983.

Webster’s San Antonio Metro campus is located inside of a popular commercial building and offers a stunning view of downtown San Antonio from its classrooms. The campus is ideal for graduate degree programs. It includes classrooms, breakout rooms, office spaces, and a student lounge. High-speed Wi-Fi-is available, and most classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology for studying the various business and STEM programs offered at this location. International students have access to all the resources of the Webster University main campus in St. Louis, such as the Library, Career Services and Academic Advising, etc., through Webster’s digital and remote services connecting metro campuses to the main campus.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion: There’s a place for everyone at Webster. Webster University believes a diversified community leads to an increase in creativity, decision-making, and an appreciation of different perspectives. From their Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisory Council to their working groups and sponsored events, Webster University is committed to inclusive excellence and prioritizes collaborative initiatives. Each of their efforts are curated to achieve sustainable and significant community-wide transformations.

Why choose Webster University

Location

San Antonio is an historic U.S. city, located in the south-central region of Texas, about an hour’s drive south of Austin. It has a rich cultural heritage, often associated with “cowboys” in movies and American history. Museums, such as the Alamo, give a feel of turning a page in history, while its suburban neighborhood boasts modern architecture, a buzzing tech-scene and a vibrant international community. With major companies like Tesla, Google, Oracle, Apple, TCS, and Accenture making major investments in campuses and production facilities in this emerging technology and business hub, Webster University’s San Antonio metro campus is an ideal location for students who like the amenities of a big city with the feeling of living in a small town.

Faculty

The graduate faculty at Webster San Antonio has years of teaching and professional experience. Students are challenged with real-world problems and case studies in business and technology industries. As a hub of IT and Cybersecurity in the United States, the STEM program faculty members at Webster University are leaders in their fields, and are ideal instructors for graduate students who are seeking a real-world education. Programs use a mix of on-ground and remote classes. Class sizes are small, allowing students to interact and engage with faculty and fellow students in an interpersonal setting.

Optional Practical Training (OPT). OPT and STEM OPT eligibility depend on maintaining F-1 status and on the program. A program counts as STEM only when its CIP code is on the official STEM list — not because its name sounds technical. Eligibility is checked for each program — see the program page.
