Media University of Applied Sciences was founded in 2008 (under the name HMKW – Hochschule für Medien, Kommunikation und Wirtschaft). It is a private, state-recognized university and institutionally accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities. The university offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in the fields of journalism and communication, management and business studies, design, psychology, and humanities, offering graduates a valuable education that qualifies them as attractive career starters for several industries.

MU cooperates with numerous institutions and business organizations that supplement the academic curriculum with very real issues and project tasks, including ZDF (German public television station), Sony and Deutsche Welle. Student MU productions are shown and broadcast online, on television or on the radio.
MU's teaching staff are not only experts in their fields, but also have extensive practical professional experience. They have excellent industry networks, which they use to make it easier for students to start their careers and provide them with the best possible support during their studies.
